I picked this up at a car boot sale down in Dorset for £5!! What made me laugh was that I asked the gentleman selling it wether it worked to which he responded "Well it worked at some point!" I could resit the bargain!
Once I had it in the workshop I gave her a quick once over, although the pendulum does swing and the clockwork runs it stops after around 10 minuets, BUT the chiming mechanism works perfectly
Whats next?
A complete strip down, inspection, clean and polish of the clockwork then I will resemble her and finger crossed she will run. It will then be a case of bench testing her to home in the timing to ensure accurate time keeping. Whilst this is happening I will turn my attention to the case which although seems to be complete is in a very bad way. I intend to clean up, sand down and re-varnish the entire thing and if I do have to replace any of the wood I will do so like for like.
