A new arrival in the workshop today, once again another Ebay purchase, a really nice example of a chiming mantle piece clock! The casing seems to have had some light water damage but nothing that a little sand and revarnish won't fix, she doesn't run and the pendulum seems stuck but I won't know the full extent of the damage until I start to break her down.

After I started stripping her down I started seeing some problems/issues, one of the Main Spring shafts has been twisted which will make removing the ratchet a very difficult job. One of the retaining pins for the central cog shaft has sheered so I will need to make a tool to remove that with, also it will appear that some of the cogs are slightly worn and possibly slipping so this will also need attention. Every inch of the movement is gunned up with old oil and dust I could feel it straight away between my fingers as I was taking her apart, but this is to be expected on a 60 ish year old clock!
